The New Station 5! A change is on the horizon for the Strasburg Fire Company #1. As part of an ongoing project by Lancaster County-Wide Communications upgrades to the CAD system all fire companies with a 3 digit identifier (such as 5-10) will be switching to a single or two digit system to accomidate the upgrade. The Strasburg Fire Company #1 has long been referred to as Lancaster County Station 5-10. Sometime in late spring or early summer will be changing to Station 5. Why Station 5? Well, the number 5 played a significant roll in our history. While we have been able to trace our history back as early at 1816 when the Borough was chartered. This was the days of the hand drawn "pumpers". During the 1920's a Fire Company was formed and was called the Big Four Fire Companies. This consisted of the Lampeter, Refton, New Danville and West Willow fire companies. After a few years the Strasburg Fire Company also joined the Big Four and became known as Engine 5. The history of the number 5 will come home to ride with us again as we make this change. Thank you to LCWC for understanding our request and helping to make this happen.
